50 Plus and Working From Home

I am working at home and loving it. Choose the flexibility of staying home and earning an income.

I retired (moved to FL from PA) at the age of fifty 6 years ago. I had been an accountant for 20 years and burned out from that. I went back to college 4 nights a week while working 60 hours or more. I got a second degree in computer science in 1995 and finished off my career with database management.

When we retired to a large (60,000 and growing to approx 100,000) retirement community called The Villages, I had never golfed before and took it up. Loving that! Never played hardcourt volleyball before and took that up. Loving that also! My husband Bill and I run the program here in The Villages and spend many nights at the gym.

My days are filled with things to do like quilting and stained glass besides the golf and volleyball. I am the president of the stained glass group (we call ourselves The Glass Act). It is a group of stained glass artisans (some doing it over 30 years) that meet once a month. Recently got into doing Fusion Glass, which is taking different pieces of stained glass (after you cut them in a shape) and put them in a kiln. They fuse together and make some beautiful things. Can make some beautiful jewelry doing this. You can also take ceramic molds and take a piece of stained glass and slump it over the mold in the kiln and it takes on the shape of the mold.

I also enjoy decorating my house and doing home repair projects. My next project is to put down tile in the laundry room. There is one problem with living in Florida with this sandy soil and that is that the sandy soil comes in with you. I have been taking the carpet out of the house and installing laminate wood flooring instead. It's easier to take care of.

The only problem with doing all this playing, was I felt like my brain was being avoided and there were some things I wanted to buy for around the house. I decided to try to get a job where I worked out of my home. To learn how you too can be retired and get extra money, just click on this link:
